Gosh that is so interesting!! You begin to see more clearly as the books go on how Dumbledore moves his pieces around the board, clearly positioned for their usefulness/wit/cunning. It's so striking when these are pointed out. Like you see it clearer in the 6th and 7th book, as we learn so much more about Dumbledore but looking at the way he even treats Harry, teaching him to fight off Horocruxes and kill Voldemort. One thing I thought intresting was when Dumbldore and Harry have this conversation, its similar to the way Dumbledore pushes Snape to do things for him with their own emotions: "But, sir," said Harry, making valiant efforts not to sound argumentative, "it all comes to the same thing, doesn't it? I've got to try and kill him, or —"

Yes! He is such an emotional manipulator! I never realized because he was actually manipulating me too!
